Neo-Figurative Art Benjamí­n Cañas

Benjamí­n Cañas (1933-1987)  studied painting at the Fine Arts School of San Salvador and architecture at the National University, in San Salvador. The artist also studied sculpture with Enrique Salaverria and Benjamin Saul, and ceramics with César Sermeño. His works have been exhibited in international museums including the OAS and the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington. Many of his paintings and drawings are Surrealist.
The artist's recent solo exhibitions include 1999 Art Museum of the Americas, Washington, D.C.; 1992 Elites Fine Arts, Miami, Florida;1989 Art Museum of the Americas ( retrospective ), Washington, D.C.;1988 Museum Forma (posthumous tribute), San Salvador , El Salvador ;1980 Galeria Arte 80, Panamí¡ City, Panamí¡.
